EEG Monitoring
The Narcotrend analyses the EEG continuously and, second by second, the anaesthetist gets updated information about he hypnotic state of the patient. The figure shows a part of the main screen of the Narcotrend.
Top: raw EEG
Bottom left: current output for EEG stage (E0), EEG index (29) and EMG index (0)
Bottom right: course of the EEG stages/index values (cerebrogram)
After the patient had received the hypnotic for induction of anaesthesia, a quick transition from the awake state (stage A) to stages of deep anaesthesia (E/F) could be observed. Subsequently, lighter EEG stages were reached again (stage B). For surgery, the anaesthetic was maintained in E stages.
